Weekend in San Diego, Part II

So, we arrived Saturday night at the house that AC, Amber, Kat, Sean, and Nico are renting together. The house is beautiful---it has mostly white tile floors and white walls. It certainly is not as large as our house but it has a pool and its kitchen totally destroys ours. The kitchen is big and open with lots of space for moving around and cooking as well as a large drop leaf dining table around which all the non-cooks sit and keep company.
At this point, it was probably 8 o'clock and I was starving, only having had a sandwich to eat that day. We discussed food options and decided we should cook spinach, garlic and cheese calzones. This, unfortunately, proved to be a three hour long endeavor, allowing plenty of time for dough to rise, Matty to arrive, getting drunk on Kat's vodka cranberries, play Monkeyball, and expose Matty and Mark to They Might Be Giants. The calzone filling was delicious---it had so many different types of delicious cheese as well as enough garlic to kill a horse. I had to take the big bowl away from Kat so she would stop eating it even though I quickly became engrossed in the same activity.
We finally sat down to perfectly baked calzones with marinara sauce (and jalapeños in my case). It was wonderful to sit around the table with so many happy, talkative people, just enjoying the food and joking around. There is such a wonderful groove at their house---Mark felt and enjoyed it, too. Hey, any place where they feed me, get me drunk, humor me, and then give me a couch to pass out on is A-O-K with me.
In my inebriation, I was very concerned with proving that I could still do a one-handed push-up and jump through my leg---you know, when you hold one foot with your hand and then bring your leg up and through the hole formed by arm and leg. Apparently, I can still do both, despite scaring everyone watching with my attempts. I think they were all very concerned I was going to send myself to the hospital. I contented myself with taking scary photos with some of the guests and prompting Matty to show off his crazy shoulder joints (his arms rotate ALL the way around).
I haven't even described the next morning or the magnificent feast of waffles and eggs and bacon and toast and banana rum sauce we had but sadly it is time for me leave work for home. Perhaps I will write more later? Suffice to say, I had a wonderful weekend in San Diego and I look forward to the next opportunity to spend time with all these folks.
