Don Hertzfeldt

Last Saturday, I went to Alhambra with Brian, Lesley and Emlyn to attend an opening for Don Hertzfeldt at the Nucleus Gallery and Store. If you are wondering who the hell Don Hertzfeldt is, please allow me to jog your memory:

My spoon is too big.
Anyone? Yes? No?
ANYWAYS, all his animations are fairly amusing. The gallery had a good number of his original drawings and projected some of his new animations. The trip into LA was well worth it. I even picked up a comic I had been lusting after for some time, Flight Volume I. The book features 24 individual stories, many by artists whose webcomics I frequent (here here here). The book is absolutely beautiful and I felt good to finally spend some money for the art I usually enjoy for free.
The neighborhood in Alhambra was very interesting as well, with a few tasty, but pricey, looking restaurants as well as hip clubs. Perhaps we will venture back there again sometime. If we do, I'll be hard pressed not to buy more comics.
