The Dark Tower game was one of the great joys of my childhood. We did not even own the game---I only was able to play it when we visited my Tio Cacho and Aunt Carolyn in DC on Christmas or other holidays. Finally, the tower died one Christmas, much to my despair. I think I always had visions of stealing it away from them eventually but I had forgotten about it until minutes ago.
The game was a typical fantasy adventure in which you traveled around on a map with random bouts of luck and misfortune. The game was amazing because it featured a simple computer in the tower that kept track of all game information and generated 'random' encounters and ran combat. The tower had sweet sound effects and light-up pictures to signify the different events. More information can be found here.
Complete sets go for $100 - 200 on eBay. Somehow, I just cannot justify spending that much money. I think I will stick with a handmade Othello set from Thailand for now.
