The Beginning of a New Journey
I have long been unchallenged and unmotivated here---in Claremont, in my position as the Engineering Systems Administrator, and on this website. I must change my behavior---dismiss this apathy---so that I might move forward with my life. In other words, I will not accomplish what I desire unless I take a proactive approach to every aspect of my remaining time here.
First, I commit myself to this website as a display of my technical skills and an expression of my thoughts. I switched to Rin, an open source Wordpress theme, and I will customize it to my liking this week. I will update the website regularly with my photography, coding projects, and professional information/resume.
I will buy a new car in the next two weeks. Although I believe hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles are inevitable and necessary technologies, I cannot presently afford such a choice, despite its social, political, ecological and possibly economic superiority. I will likely purchase a 2006 Honda Civic Sedan.
Perhaps most importantly, I will achieve gainful employment in the Seattle area. In pursuit of this goal, I will revisit C++ and Java, focusing on data structures, algorithms, coding patterns, and style. My resume is a work in progress, currently in need of rewording and half a page of shortening. I look forward to applying for jobs and finally tasting the interview process which I have so far avoided, obtaining work through personal reference.
I will run at least three miles at least four times per week. I will lift weights for at least 30 minutes at least three times per week. This activity must be in addition to coaching the Greenshirts and practicing with the Braineaters.
Lastly, I deactivated my Friendster, Facebook, and Livejournal accounts. I will minimize my use of AIM. I will read instead of watching television. Freedom!
