Sun’s Out, Guns Out
Today was perfect for Southern California: sunny and warm but not too hot. My run felt amazing in this weather.
I was up early for Greenshirts practice, at which we had 20 women out and excited. 20 women! I think today's practice was the best turn-out we've had all semester. We have sectionals next weekend and I sent out an appropriately intense e-mail about end of season commitment. I hope all the ladies were happy with practice today---I thought our scrimmages were some of the best we've had all semester.
The Braineaters are at San Bernadino Soccer Complex this weekend for sectionals. If all games go as expected, they will be facing UCSB Black Tide in the semifinals tomorrow. They have a strong chance to upset Tide so Trina and I are going out to watch tomorrow.
I ran barely 5.5 miles in under 40 minutes this afternoon. This pace is well below what I need to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Obviously, I will be running 26.2 miles not 5.5 but still, I am happy with my current training. Here is my route today.
Now, Trina and I are cooking pork chops, mashed potatoes, and peas. I plan on eating much too much in preparation for my long run tomorrow---11 miles! Eek!
