Whoza Whatzit Now?
I fixed and updated many elements of my template, ColorRun, and now am much happier with it. Huzzah! Regardless, I may present a new theme soon based on one of two background patterns with which I am particularly pleased.
My training was right on course until two days ago when the bottom of my left foot began to complain. Injury is not acceptable! I easily completed my 13-miler on Sunday and hit the paces this week without issue and then pain began to flare. I ran yesterday anyways, expecting the Friday rest to eliminate my troubles, and felt great during the run. Doctor Intarweb points to under- or over-stretched calf muscles or insufficient shoe support. In either case, I will run tomorrow morning and then buy new shoes at the Roadrunner Sports store in San Diego.
Why will you be in San Diego, Drew? You dummy, this weekend is the UPA Southwest College Regional Tournament. I will be coaching the Greenshirts and (I hope) watching the Braineaters qualify for the third bid to nationals. They have to beat Colorado State, UCSB, and Arizona for the spot---Colorado and UCSD are untouchable in our region and will take first and second without doubt. Keep your fingers crossed for our boys, and call my cell Sunday afternoon if you want live updates.
I still have no job in Seattle but I am unconcerned. I already have tentative projects to keep me busy (and paid). I think this summer will be an excellent opportunity to experiment with a different pace of life. If, while working for myself and training for the marathon, I secure gainful employment of sufficient pay and benefit, I could return to the working throng in September. Should the scheme prove financially sound, I will spend August visiting my family and adventuring. Should I go to Iceland? Perhaps I can drive up the Pacific coast to Alaska?
Time will tell, as always.
