How Easy Were They, Drew?

My 800 repeats today were SOOOO easy that I ran six instead of five and lifted weights for half an hour afterwards. I ran in the second lane and my times, adjusted for the extra distance, were:

  • 2:50
  • 2:51
  • 2:54
  • 2:55
  • 2:48
  • 2:46

After completing the fifth Yasso repeat, I realized I was not tired enough and that I had not pushed hard enough on the middle set. So I ran a sixth 800 and shaved off another two seconds. This training has obviously improved my speed and endurance---I could not be happier with how today went.

While I was running, I kept repeating in my head, "Vision. Form. Strength."

  1. I found I was not keeping my eyes on the approaching track, especially on the corners, and my foot placement suffered accordingly. I must learn to run straight (or at least along the shortest path) and pay attention.
  2. I want to focus and improve my stride and conservation of movement. Every little bit counts.
  3. I have to be strong and remember I am strong and just run harder.

All in all, I am very happy. I cooked a delicious pot of chicken pieces and onions in green enchilada sauce and made burritos with rice, cheese, peppers, lettuce, and avocado. I ate three and they were all delicious, despite these "healthy" and "chipotle pepper" tortillas I bought which ended up sucking. The problem is, they have no lard in them. Say it with me: Fat is Where Flavor Lives. Also, they cracked when I tried to roll them, even after warming them up.

I will write more tomorrow. Groove.

P.S. I am still 151 pounds.
