Cephalopodian Dominance
Trina and I went to the Seattle Aquarium this afternoon, both having a delight in the cavorting of all creatures cute or strange. The otters and seals delivered the cute, especially during feeding time, but the most impressive denizens we enjoyed were the two giant Pacific octopi. They were not allowed in the same tank together, as they would have certainly fought---indeed, their respective tanks were free of almost all other creatures lest sharks or weaker chordate be brutally murdered.
AC has told me that an octopus, as an invertebrate, can its entire body through any opening large enough for its beak. Madness!
