Repost: 11.20.2002: Sigur Rós

Here is my post on the concert in 2002:

So this was definitely one of the coolest concert experiences I've ever had. I went to Sigur Rós with Whit, Lesley and Henry at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. The theatre was very cool looking and the venue not so big, so we had a great view even though we were on the balcony.

The opener was a really weird guy singing and playing the guitar. Yeah... he was just strange. Sigur Rós was purely amazing.

I was tired that night and we all know that I'm nearly schizophrenic, which just made things even more interesting. Their music just takes you into a different world. My brain went into hyper-free-association-mode. I had no concept of time. I would suddenly remember to look up at the band and the lights would have changed to totally different color and arrangement.

And you didn't just hear the music, you felt it. Anyone who has listened to Sigur Rós can maybe imagine what it would be like live. Henry's friends (the ones who gave up the tickets) are fools :D

I am happy to note that my writing seems to have improved in the last five years. And apparently I'm no longer "nearly schizophrenic." Right.
