I have a deeply significant matter to discuss but I have not yet decided how to do so, or if I should at all. To break my recent silence, resulting from the aforementioned hesitation, I would like to share a selection of recent links that I found interesting.

First, a new stick figure slideshow cleverly and succinctly describes the Sub-Prime Mortgage Disaster in the United States. I found the explanation reminiscent of XKCD as well as a fitting accompaniment to Liar's Poker, which I read at the beginning of the year.

After Kottke posted his list of single serving sites, someone meta'd the topic and made a single serving site listing all other single serving sites. I particularly enjoy Beth Cherry, who maintains a single page blog with no archives or apparent feed to which to subscribe. This blog philosophy reminds me of my drawing professor senior year, who recommended keeping a sketchbook in which one glues down the page after completing each drawing (but admitted personally to tearing out and saving particularly good ones).

Finally, art imitates life. And let's hope life will imitate art come November.

The Guardian has a full discussion of the Santos-Obama story.

Have you noticed how many people's Facebook profiles are beginning to look like MySpace pages? I have, and let me tell you: my eyes are bleeding.

I would like a Facebook application that hides all Facebook applications on others' profile pages. I don't care about your aquarium or who your top friend is (it's probably not me) or how many pirate points you have. And also, how are you a Vampire AND a Vampire Slayer AND a Zombie? It defies reason.*

All I want is a good idea if I should stalk you and then the information that will allow me to do so. Get rid of the rest of the crap! Oh, and then I want to play Scrabulous with you.

*I'll have to check with my housemates on this one, but I'm fairly certain this have never occurred on Buffy. I don't think there has ever even been a Vampire Vampire Slayer, which is too bad because Eliza Dushku would have been a wicked hot bloodsucker. Also, would a Zombie Vampire go after brains or blood first? Regardless, what did the cheerleader say when a zombie hid in her locker? "Hey, where are my pom-"OM NOM NOM NOM.

I am reclining on my couch in my new house in Wallingford, having tweaked my foot/ankle last night at a summer men's hat league game. We played savage against a team with four subs but still managed a 15-12 victory. Charlie Matlack is on my team, which is good fun. On the last point, I accelerated in for a run-through defensive catch and, on one left plant, felt and heard a crazy double pop in my ankle. I caught the D, immediately threw away a huck, and then we got the block again and scored for the win.

Claire gave me an initial diagnosis this morning as well as exercises and practices to follow. If the injury has not subsided at all tomorrow, I will likely see a doctor for more in-depth analysis.

Just before Potlatch, I moved out of my studio apartment and into storage (Room 129), a 5' by 6' by 9' box that somehow fit all of my furniture and worldly possessions. Special thanks to Shy, Whit, Claire, Slider, Cara, Tank and Skip (Hobbie). After an amazing weekend with DarkHorse, I moved into a new house not a mile from my old apartment with Claire Storck, Deirdre Ronaldson, and Sarah Ross-Viles (and temporarily Krump Klump).

I am loving this new social living arrangement and our big backyard for grilling and badminton and beer croquet. Also, I am loving that everyone in this house (except Krump Klump) has an Apple laptop. Hooray! No in-house Windows support! Someone bet Deirdre that I would have internet access in the house before my bed was moved in. He or she was right.

And, finally, before I head off on my bum foot for a shower and work, I wanted to link to this Applegeeks comic that our house laptop arrangement made me remember. EDIT: Oh, and also this one. So true, so sad.

Flight Volume 2 came out last April and I still haven't bought it. What is wrong with me? You haven't bought it either? Cretin!
Volume 1 was an amazing compilation of short story comics by many of my favorite webcomic artists. Improving on the first, Volume 2 is more than two times longer and contains equally amazing contributors. If you are not convinced, check out the preview page---the drawings are so delicious! I assure you that the narratives are just as satisfying.
Now, if I wanted to support a "local" comic shop, I would tell you to buy the books online or in-person at Gallery Nucleus. I truly enjoyed my visit there for the Don Hertzfeldt opening. Unfortunately, I cannot argue against the prices available on Amazon (both volumes for $30, shipped free).
However you buy the books, buy them! Devour them!

This is a rewrite of an old, lost post.
