San Francisco Marathon

I completed the San Francisco Marathon on July 30th, 2006. The result was not exactly as I would have liked. I suggest that you read the following entries for further insight:

If it is not already obvious, I am training for the San Francisco Marathon on July 30th, 2006. I was inspired to do so by the decision to run of one Chuck (Charlie) Matlack, a friend who graduated from Mudd with me. I simply could not let Chuck complete this life goal before me. I think I have also convinced Scott Rydbeck, a life-long buddy from Massachusetts, to run it with us as well.I am confident that I can complete the marathon so my goal is to qualify for the Boston Marathon. To qualify, I have to run in under 3 hours and 10 minutes—a pace of less than 7 minutes and 15 seconds per mile.

In pursuit of this goal, I am training with the Advanced I program by Hal Higdon. I find the progression of mileage natural and the workouts quite enjoyable (especially Thursdays). I can easily notice my increases in strength and endurance over the last seven weeks. My times and paces are right on track with my target marathon time.
All said, I am optimistic for the outcome of these exciting eighteen weeks.
